Policy on Petitions

Background

Library Service staff are often asked to display petitions in the libraries. These petitions are usually political in nature.

Statement of Intent

This policy provides guidelines for determining whether petitions should, or should not, be displayed in the City of Rockingham libraries.

Policy

As a general rule the Library Service will decline the placement of petitions within the City of rockingham libraries.

Each petition will, however, be considered on its merits and if considered
to be appropriate and in the best interests of the community in general, may be placed in the library with the permission of the Manager Library Services.
